GHMC election campaign to end on Sunday
Hyderabad, Jan 30 (INN): The campaign for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will come to an end at 5 PM on Sunday.
The Telangana State Election Commission informed all the political parties, TV channels and other electronic media that under the law, the election campaign in whatever form like public meetings or display or playing of campaign material in electronic media like TV channels, Radio, etc., or propaganda of election matter by arranging musical concerts or theatrical performance or other entertainment is strictly prohibited from 5 PM on 31st January (Sunday). "Any contravention of this provision of law is an offence punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years of with fine or both under Section 600 (2) of GHMC Act," SEC Secretary M. Ashok Kumar said.
All the political parties, campaign managers and managers incharge of electronic media have been asked to implement the orders strictly in order to comply with the provisions of law.
