Pharma City aimed at reducing pollution: KCR


 
Hyderabad, Feb 8 (INN): Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao said that the Telangana Government is proposing to establish a Pharma University in the State in addition to the proposed Pharma City near Hyderabad. The purpose of the Pharma City is to bring all Pharma Industrial Units at one place to overcome the pollution problem, said KCR.

A two member delegation of FERRING Pharma which has a global turnover and a full-fledged centre with manufacturing, R&D and supporting services, represented by its chairman Frederik Paulsen and CMD, India Dr. Ashok Alate called on the Chief Minister with an investment proposal of 100-250 million U.S.A Dollars.

Interacting with the delegation, the Chief Minister said that around Hyderabad the bulk drug production is equal to one third of the nation's production and in the processes causes lot of pollution and hence requires control measures. He said that the towards controlling pollution various precautionary measures or to be taken.

As the whole world is in need of drugs all precautions must be taken while manufacturing these drugs said Chief Minister. He also told the delegation that his government has undertaken a study as to how pharma production is managed in Scandinavia, European countries and United States and adopt the best practices. He also mentioned that the proposed pharma city will have separate townships and common treatment plant.

FERRING Parma CMD told CM that theirs is an R&D Unit and they would like to concentrate in Telangana in future more. They also assured him that their unit will be of Zero discharge as no pollution is allowed to go outside and will be treated within the premises. They also said that no toxic chemicals are used in their unit and theirs would be the safest drugs and are useful as life saving medicines in super speciality hospitals.

FERRING Pharma has nine plants worldwide in countries like Argentina, china, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Israel, Mexico, Scotland and Switzerland besides 9 more R&D Units in other countries. They have two plants in India in Maharashtra and now would like to Establish in Telangana. Its Global turnover is 1.5 Billion Euros.

The Chief Minister handed over a copy of TS-iPASS Policy and told them that so far 82 companies have been given approvals within 15 days of their online application.

Principal Secretary to CM S. Narsing Rao, Additional Principal Secretary to CM Santhi Kumari, Secretary Industries Aravind Kumar, MD TSIIC Narasimha Reddy are present in the meeting.
