TDP's Quthbullapur MLA joins TRS The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Telangana received a jolt as another of its legislator joined the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Telugu Desam Party (TDP) legislator from Qutbullapur K.P. Vivekananda joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the presence of CM KCR. KCR welcomed Vivekananda into the patty by offering him the party kanduva.
He is the sixth TDP MLA to have joined the TRS ever since the party came to power in Telangana. Vivekananda is learnt to have sent his resignation letter to TDP National President N. Chandrababu Naidu. The MLA said he had decided to quit the TDP and join the TRS only to help achieve the goal of 'Bangaru Telangana' (golden State).He said that he took the decision after consulting his supporters in the constituency.
Vivekananda is the sixth TDP MLA to resign after 2014 general elections which installed the TRS in power with 63 MLAs. The other five being: Commercial Taxes Minister T. Srinivas Yadav (Sanatnagar), Teegala Krishna Reddy (Maheswaram), Manchireddy Kishan Reddy (Ibrahimpatan), M. Krishna Rao (Kukatpally) and Challa Dharma Reddy (Parkal).
The TDP bagged only one seat in recently concluded GHMC elections.Meanwhile, the lone TDP corporator in the GHMC is likely to meet the chief minister on Tuesday. Srinivas Rao, who was elected from KPHB division, may formally join the TRS.
