Three UoH faculty selected for Post Doctoral research


 
Hyderabad, Feb 16 (INN): Dr Phaninder Goyari, Associate Professor, School of Economics, Dr. M Romesh Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Anthropology and Dr. Vaibhav Vindal, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) have been selected for the Raman Post Doctoral Fellowship.

The objective of the Raman Post Doctoral Fellowships to be awarded by the University Grants Commission, for the young Indian scholars is to provide them an opportunity to have international collaborative research opportunities, training in advanced techniques and technologies in emerging fields, thereby furthering their research capacity and ability to contribute to higher education with global perspective and forging long-term relationships with distinguished experts in these fields in USA.

Dr. Phanindra Goyari is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Economics, UoH. Besides regular teaching to MA and IMA students, he has been guiding MPhil and PhD scholars. His present research interests are mainly in regional development and agricultural economics with special reference to irrigation development, technology adoption, cropping pattern and nonparametric econometric modeling. Dr. Goyari has been invited to the Department of Economics, Texas Christian University Forth Worth in USA, to conduct his collaborative research with Dr. Kiril Tochkov during his UGC Raman fellowship.

Dr. Romesh Singh Moirangthem is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology, UoH. He is specialized in Business Anthropology and Development Anthropology. His recent interest of research is in the field of Business Anthropology and he has been teaching Business Anthropology in the department for the last five years. He has contributed various articles and book reviews in reputed journals and presented papers in seminars. He is also an author of a book entitled 'Tribal Development in the Twenty First Century: An Experience from Manipur and co-editor of a book 'Development Initiatives in India'. He was a recipient of UGC-Research Award (2012-1014). He will be visiting the Department of Anthropology, University of North Texas, Denton, USA for Raman PDF program.

Dr. Vaibhav Vindal is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, School of Life Sciences, UoH. He is supervising project research scholars and PhD students associated with him. His research efforts are focused towards the better understanding of the biological processes by integrating computational approaches with experimental validation. In the process, his group has also developed number of web resources and tools for the scientific community. He has been invited to Emory Vaccine Center, Emory University to pursue his research work as UGC Raman fellow. Dr. Vaibhav will also be interacting with other Scientists at the host institute to establish international collaborative research.
