Notification Issued For Elections In 4 states A massive election notification was issued by Election commission today. Notification was issued for General elections to Legislative Assemblies of four states i.e Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Assom and Puducherry .The elections will be held in several phases between April 4 and May 5.
Elections will be conducted for total of 824 Assembly constituencies in the five states - Tamil Nadu 234, West Bengal 294, Kerala 140, Assom 126 and Puducherry 30.
Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry will go to polls in a single phase and elections will be conducted on May 16 in these three states.
West Bengal and Assom polling will be held in six and two phases respectively between April 4 and May 5. For West Bengal polling will be held in six pahses beginning April 4 followed by April 11, 17, 21, 25, 30 and May 5. The two phases of polling in Assom will be on April 4 and 11.
As the notification was out the election code of conduct comes into effect in these five states from Friday.
Congress is in power in Assom and Kerala .Tamil Nadu and West Bengal are under the rule of regional parties - AIDMK headed by J. Jayalalithaa and Trinamul Congress of Mamata Benarjee respectively.
