Punctuality shall be given top priority: SCR GM Hyderabad, March 15 (INN): South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Ravindra Gupta reiterated the need to undertake extensive monitoring of safety procedures to ensure passenger safety and improve efficiency of rail services.
He was addressing a high level review meeting attended by senior officials of various departments of the Zone on Tuesday at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad. The review meeting also involved video conferencing with the Divisional Railway Managers of Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal and Nanded Divisions.
Detailing on the priorities for SCR, Ravindra Gupta, made a strong pitch for ensuring the implementation of safety procedures without fail. The General Manager stressed on the need to evolve technological solutions to ensure permitted loading on trains. He focussed mainly on safety auditing to be conducted on a regular basis, reviewed the safety related issues at Manned Level Crossings and Unmanned Level Crossings, Fire Safety Audit and seasonal weather conditions.
Punctuality was another major area which is pivotal in attaining passenger satisfaction, the General Manager emphasised. He instructed the concerned to evolve plans for smooth and punctual running of trains by means of regular monitoring and coordination with officials of other zones whenever necessary. The high level meeting also focussed on issues concerning passenger amenities/facilities including extension of Cover over Platforms, provision of Train/Coach indication boards, Lifts, Escalators, drinking water facilities etc.
