TS Govt to mediate in better sales of farmers produce Hyderabad, June 24 (INN): Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday announced that the Telangana Government would take measures to ensure sale of farmers' produce at better prices.
Speaking after launching the 'Our Vegetables' scheme at Rythu Bazar in Mehdipatnam here, Pocharam said that the farmers should get better compensation for the labour and hard work that they put to produce a crop. Stating that the government was serious in ensuring Minimum Support Price to the farmers for different commodities, he said 'Our Vegetables' was aimed at giving better prices to the farmers by removing mediators. As part of this programme, tomatoes were sold at Rs. 24 per kg while onion is being sold at Rs. 21 per kg.
Addressing the programme, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said that government would modernise all Rythu Bazars in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Further, he said more Rythu Bazars would be established in the State.
