Telangana Govt launches free Inter Education Hyderabad, June 24 (INN): Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari on Wednesday announced that the Telangana Government would implement free intermediate education from the current academic year. The students will also get free text books. This would cost an additional burden of Rs. 15 crore on the State's exchequer.
The scheme will be implemented in 402 Government Junior Colleges and will benefit 1.15 lakh students. Earlier, the science students used to pay Rs. 893 per year while Arts students used to pay Rs. 535 per annum. This amount has been completely waived off and this would cost the government Rs. 9.30 crore. Further, all students will get free text books worth about Rs. 6.5 crore. The Deputy CM said that the text books would be supplied to all students by July 15. The students can get direct admission into the government colleges by taking along their Transfer Certificate, Marks Memo and Caste Certificates, he said.
Briefing the decisions taken during the meeting of Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education held here on Wednesday, Kadiyam said it has been decided to take 22 services online. Of them, 15 services including Migration Certificate, Pass Certificate, Attendance Exemption, re-counting, medium or group change, signature change, etc., pertains to the students while seven services are related to private colleges. They include change in college name and conversion of college from boys to girls or vice-versa. He said the infrastructure in government colleges would be upgraded soon under various schemes.
He also assured that the State government would issue a notification to fill vacant lecturers' posts besides regularising the services of contract lecturers based on their eligibility. He also announced that orientation courses would be launched for Principals and Lecturers to improve the standard of education. He said that the performance of government colleges was satisfactory and it would be improved further.
The Deputy CM also informed that the results of intermediate supplementary examinations would be announced in two-three days.
