Settlers' names being removed: Nagender Hyderabad, July 5 (INN): Former minister and Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee president Danam Nagender has alleged that the TRS Government has been removing the names of voters, who hailed from Seemandhra, from the electoral rolls of GHMC.
Addressing a press conference at his residence on Sunday, Nagender said that the TRS has hatched a major conspiracy to remove the names of settlers from the voters list so as to increase its prospects of winning next GHMC elections. He asked them to stay cautious and ensure that their names remain in the voters' list. He also accused GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar of working as a tool into the hands of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He said that voting rights have been provided by the Constitution of India to all the citizens and no party has a right to deny those rights to any citizen, for whatever be the reasons.
Danam announced that he would undertake a padayatra in the GHMC areas after the end of holy month of Ramzan. He said that the municipal authorities have failed to provide better civic amenities to the citizens and despite spending crores of rupees in the name of 'Swachh Hyderabad', the city has remained dirty. He said some bureaucrats have been misleading KCR exactly the same way they did with Kiran Kumar Reddy.
When asked for reaction on reports of his exit from Congress party, Nagendra said some leaders belonging to his own party were floating such rumours. He said he would soon meet AICC President Sonia Gandhi to seek freedom to work independently in view of GHMC elections.
