Former AP minister Passes away Congress leader and former Andhra Pradesh minister Bhattam Srirama Murthy passed away at a hospital in Vizag'today. He was 89 and is survived by wife, a son and daughter. Bhattam was born on'May 12, 1926'at Dharmavaram village in Vizianagaram district. He is a Law graduate, was a member of All India Congress Committee for nearly 16 years.
He was elected to the Assembly four times and served as Minister three times. He was elected to the Assembly from Vizianagaram from 1957 and 1962 and from Parawada in 1972 and 1978. Later, he joined the TDP and was elected to the Lok Sabha.
He was a good speaker, a well-read man, and a writer. He also worked on the desk for some newspapers in his early days. His autobiography, entitled 'Swechcha Bharatam', was published in 2009. Srirama Murthy retired from active politics and led a spiritual life for the past few years.
Several senior politicians including Chandrababu Naidu, ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Vizag MP K. Haribabu and MLAs condoled the death of Bhattam.
