CVC advocates speedy disposal of corruption cases
Hyderabad, July 7 (INN): Central Vigilance Commissioner K V Chowdary has strongly advocated for the need of speedy disposal of corruption cases pending with various departments across the country.
Emphasizing on the need of early detection of the frauds he said that preventive vigilance was the first priority of the commission. Delivering a key note address at the 12th Anniversary Celebrations of Vigilance Study Circle here on Tuesday, he said, 'I am not interested in booking 100 cases and taking them for ten years rather than if there is a possibility of booking 10 cases and taking them to conclusion within one year so that there is a lesson.'
"Identify cases before they become fraud and once you identify such a case, ensure that it is taken to a logical end within a reasonable time," the officer said.
Chowdary said that there were about 6,500 cases of fraud being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) before vigilance commission for about 20 years and the number of cases under trial for 10 years does not have their count. He said that the Commission has requested the CBI for giving the court-wise details of such cases so that it can take up these cases with Chief Justices of various High Courts for speedy disposal. He stressed the need for booking the cases against any offense of fraud in a shortest time and to ensure their logical conclusion as early as possible to stop further such offences.
Telangana Vigilance Commissioner R K Nandan said that most of the cases of fraud have been booked or registered from Revenue department and least number of cases was recorded in Information Technology department. 'Corruption can be downsized by minimizing the interface between government functionary and people in each department,' he observed. He said that Indians were the best domestic person in the world but he was a worst citizen. He also emphasized the split in the society and said the fragmented society was another big reason for the corrupt behavior of the Indian citizens. He advocated for the appointment of chief vigilance and vigilance officers in each departments that is being ignored and not in practice.
