TRS will join NDA after GHMC polls: Uttam Kumar Hyderabad, July 8 (INN): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy predicted that the TRS would join the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre after the GHMC elections.
Uttam Kumar Reddy was speaking while participating in the ceremony of Khaja Fakhruddin taking over charge as the Chairman of TPCC Minorities Department at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday.
The TPCC chief said that the TRS has stayed away from BJP only to get Muslim votes in the forthcoming GHMC elections. He alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has been cheating the Muslim community since beginning. Although he promised to give 12% reservation to Muslims in jobs and education within four months after coming to power, nothing has been done even after 14 months. He reminded that KCR has reiterated the promise of Muslim reservation twice in the last one year, but did not implement it. Since, Muslims constitute about 40% of the total electorates in GHMC, KCR has been making misleading and fake promises to lure them. He demanded that job notifications should be issued only giving 12% Muslim reservation.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said Congress was the true secular party and voting for any party other than Congress would mean voting for BJP. He announced that Congress would contest the GHMC elections alone and it would not have any tie-up with the MIM. He also announced that Congress would field strong candidates from all the division, including those in the Old City.
Leaders of Opposition K Jana Reddy (Assembly) and Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Council), Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao, TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, MLC Farooq Hussain, Md Sirajuddin, Abdul Ghani and other leaders also addressed the meeting.
