GHMC chief appeals staff to call off strike Hyderabad, July 8 (INN): GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar has appealed to the unions, who are on strike, to resume work immediately in view of Ramzan and Bonalu festivals and also rainy season.
Somesh Kumar said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was very sympathetic to the request of sanitation workers and soon he would take a decision to sort out the pending issues. He said that during the 'Swachh Hyderabad' programme the Chief Minister has already assured that every care would be taken for the sanitation workers and soon the Government will take a decision in this regard
The GHMC chief directed all the Deputy Commissioners and Zonal Commissioners to make elaborate arrangements for lifting of garbage in their jurisdiction on priority. He also had a tele-conference with all the Deputy Commissioners and Zonal Commissioners on Wednesday morning wherein certain directions have been given for deploying Swachh Teams with 4 labourers and vehicle from tonight to take up the sanitation work.
Somesh Kumar held a meeting with the GHMEU recognized union along with U. Gopal and other union representatives and assured that all genuine demands would be properly taken care. He said the promotions for Class IV employees were in process and issue of health cards has to be settled by the State Government.
