TRS calls for Mahabubnagar Bandh Hyderabad, July 8 (INN): The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has called for Mahabubnagar district bandh on Friday in protest against the letter written by Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the Palamuru lift irrigation project (Ethipothalu) to the Central Water Commission.
Protests were organised across Mahabubnagar district on Thursday and TRS workers burnt the effigy of Naidu. Several TRS activists organised massive protest at Mahabubnagar Town crossroads. They raised slogans against the AP Chief Minister and warned of serious consequences if Palamuru project is stooped. Protests were also held at Jadcherla.
Meanwhile, addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, Industries Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said that the Telangana Government would complete the project at any cost. Speaking to media at the at the TRS Legislature Party office , legislators Karne Prabhakar and A Jeevan Reddy and TRS Mahabubnagar district president Shiva Kumar accused Naidu of stalling the development of Telangana.
Jupally contended that all permissions for Palamuru projects were accorded in the united Andhra Pradesh itself and no fresh permissions were required for the same. He asked Naidu to show the permissions for Polavaram and other irrigation projects of Andhra Pradesh.
