AP CS reviews works on National Institutions Hyderabad, July 13 (INN): There is progressive path in establishing the National Institutions in the State of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Secretary I.Y.R.Krishna Rao said.
The Chief Secretary held a meeting to review on the progress of establishment of seven National Institutions - Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Tirupati), Indian Institute for Science Education and Research (IISER-Tirupati), Indian Institute of Management (IIM-Visakhapatnam), National Institute of Technology (NIT-West Godavari Dist.), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-Kurnool), Central University (Anantapuram) and Tribal University (Vizianagaram).
Status of the seven National Institutions establishing in Andhra Pradesh, institute-wise progress has been briefed by the Secretary Higher Education Sumita Dawra.
Chittoor district Joint Collector informed that IIT Chennai has well prepared to start the classes in their temporary campus provided at Tirupati and a good encouraging sign is there in the admissions for Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and IT; and IISER offered 75 seats in their temporary campus at Tirupati and admissions will be done through an entrance examination.
The Chief Secretary has issued instructions that ensure to handover available land without encroachments to both the institutions IIT and IISER by providing external infrastructure.
While reviewing on the IIIT Kurnool, the Chief Secretary has directed the Dist. Collector Kurnool to handover the available 27 acres of land to the concerned as an advance possession.
Visakhapatnam Dist. Collector Yuvaraj told that temporary campus has been identified in Andhra University Campus and other related works are under progress to establish IIM at Visakhapatnam.
Ananthapuramu Dist. Collector Sasidhar said that clear and suitable land was identified for establishment of Central University and for temporary campus with hostel facility was also identified.
Land acquisition and providing of external infrastructure is under progress for establishment of Tribal University in Vizianagaram District. Temporary accommodation is identified at JNTU campus Vizianagaram to start the classes, Collector informed.
The Chief Secretary said the review meetings on fortnightly basis may be conducted with all the Institutions and Collectors to know the status of progress. The face of Andhra Pradesh would change a lot by establishing these premier institutions, Chief Secretary opined.
