CS asks District Collectors to monitor crops Hyderabad, July 15 (INN): In view of the Intermittent Monsoon rainfall across the state, the Telangana Government directed all the District collectors, Agricultural officials and Scientists to be on full alert to avoid any hardships to the farmers during the Kharif operations.
Addressing a video conference with District collectors from the secretariat this morning, Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma instructed them to monitor the crop conditions closely and the village wise situation be assessed regularly and to take precautions to facilitate and guide the farmers depending upon the crop conditions. He said all steps be taken to publicize awareness among the farmers on crop insurance scheme and also review the status on the Crop loans with the district bankers. The district officials should also prepare the contingency plans in the event of continuance of dry spell in any particular region of the state, the Chief Secretary cautioned.
Speaking on the occasion C. Parthasarathi, Commissioner and Principal Secretary Agriculture asked the district officials to be on alert and cautious throughout the season of Kharif operations in order to provide succor and help to the farmers wherever and whenever needed.
Reviewing the status of supply of agricultural inputs and fertilizers in the state, he stated that sufficient stocks of seeds and fertilizers are available in case of any contingent plan to be operationalized. He also directed the teams of Agriculture officials and Scientists to be well prepared and also gather accurate information on rainfall and crop conditions for benefit of the farmers .
Prominent among others who participated in the video conference were Agriculture Director G D Priyadarshini, Agros MD Veerabrahmaiah, Director Agriculture Research Raja Reddy and SLBC Representative Subramanyam.
