AP to launch 2nd phase of DELP Hyderabad, July 26 (INN): In tune with the directions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for expediting the Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation activities which will be immensely benefit the state and stake holders, the State Energy Conservation Mission, in coordination with DISCOMs, has contemplated to launch Second phase of Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) Scheme during second week of August this year.
The Government. which has completed the distribution of around 56 Lakhs LED bulbs in the districts of Guntur, Ananthapur, Srikakulam and West Godavari in a record period of around six months under DELP scheme now focussing on taking up the project in Krishna, Prakasham, and Chittoor districts of Southern Power Distribution company and Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam Distribution of Eastern Power Distribution Company and the commencement of distribution of LED in remaining four districts East Godavari, Nellore, Dr. Y.S.R. Cuddapah and Kurnool will be taken up in third phase during November 2015.
The Chief Minister who is determined to provide 24 x 7 supply on sustainable basis by even promoting renewable energy sources like solar & wind and enhancing energy efficiency at global standards, specifically suggested the administrative machinery to invariably complete the DELP project as well as LED Street lights programme of Replacement of Incandescent sodium vapour street lights with Energy efficient street lights in all Municipalities and corporations by March 2016. Disclosing the above details the Chief Secretary/ Chairman of SECM Dr. IYR Krishna Rao, who has reviewed the status of Energy Efficiency activities with Secretary/ Energy / I&I, Sri Ajay Jain on Saturday evening, emphasised the need to reach the target set by the CM for completion of the above EE programmes.
The CS, further added that, it is a pride for the state to get whole hearted appreciation from the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modi, during the very recent video conference on review of PRAGATI (Pro-active Governess and Time Implementation) programme, for the successful implementation of Energy Efficiency activities in AP and this has immensely motivated and enthused the Government. officials for achieving the ultimate target of Chief Minister to make AP as the Incandescent free state. During the meeting it has been decided to conduct Third Executive committee meeting of State Energy Conservation Mission society, very soon and making various recommendations further for expediting the programmes of Energy Efficiency.
Chief Ajay Jain, Secretary, Energy I&I / Vice Chairman /SECM said that several national level Bidders also have participated for the Third Party Agency and Bid evaluation report for engaging the agency for conducting field survey of annual monitoring of energy savings of DELP Stage 'I for individual DISCOMs is going to be finalised very soon by SECM. The Secretary has suggested the CMDs of DISCOMs Sri R. Muthyala Raju, Sri HY Dora, to geared up for the implementation of DELP Scheme in co- ordination with SECM and M/s Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL),GoI.
The Secretary, Energy I&I has written a letter to Chief Saurabh Kumar MD, EESL, GoI, about the preparedness of the official machinery for distribution of the LED Bulbs and requested to procure maximum quantity of bulbs to meet the requirement of remaining 9 districts in AP.
The Government has decided to distribute 9 Watt LED bulbs instead of 7 Watt bulbs in the second and third phase of DELP Scheme, for Rs 10/ Bulb only as in first phase to the beneficiaries, Sri Ajay Jain specifically thanked Chairman/APERC Sri G Bhavani Prasad and Members of APERC Sri P Raghu and Sri P Rammohan for their proactive role in monitoring of DELP prices and giving conditional approval from APERC subject to reduction of 9Watt LED bulb price below Rs.100/-, which ultimately helped the consumers as well as DISCOMs for getting a lowest price of Rs. 72/- per LED bulb as against Rs.650/- in the open market.
The entire tendering process of M/s. EESL the implementing agency and LED revolution of Andhra Pradesh helped even the Nation for reaching to a lowest level of just Rs. 72/- per bulb. In the meanwhile, Ajay Jain has deputed the Advisor to Secretary/ Energy K. Ranganatham to Delhi to make a special presentation on the impact of Energy Efficiency for sustainability of 24X7 during a national level meeting on 'Power for All' programme conducted by the Ministry of Power, GoI.
