Police foil BJP's 'Chalo Secretariat' rally Hyderabad, Aug 1 (INN): Nearly 300 activists of Bharatiya Janata Party and GHMC workers were taken into custody when they tried to take out a 'Chalo Secretariat' rally from Indira Park demanding that the State Government immediately resolve issues pertaining to municipal employees in the State.
BJP leaders including Telangana unit president G Kishan Reddy, legislators Dr. K. Lakshman, NVSS Prabhakar, C Ramchander Reddy, N Ramchander Reddy and other leaders staged a protest at Dharna Chowk. Addressing the protest meeting, Kishan Reddy accused Telangana Government of lacking seriousness in resolving the problems being faced by the municipal staff, especially sanitation workers. He said K Chandrashekar Rao was not acting like a democratically elected Chief Minister, but like a monarch. He alleged that the problems of municipal workers were being ignored as most of them belong to the Dalit and BC communities. He also slammed GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar and accused him of acting like a TRS agent. He said Somesh Kumar was spending more time in CMO than the GHMC Headquarters.
Later, the BJP activist tried to take out a rally while shouting slogans against the TRS Government and KCR. However, police immediately swung into action and took them into custody and shifted them to Goshamahal Police Stadium.
