Court issues non-bailable warrant on Modi Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi landed in trouble again. A Mumbai court on Wednesday issued a non-bailable warrant against former commissioner of IPL in an on-going money laundering investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
On July 3, the enforcement agency summoned Modi and directed him to appear in person before the ED within 15 days. The deadline for personal appearance expired on July 19 but Modi didn't respond to the notices.
The agency had moved to special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Court on July 27 after Modi failed to respond to summons issued by ED . Courttoday'hears the petition and issued non bailable arrest warrant on Modi citing that the former IPL chairman not cooperating with enforcement agency.
The ED had filed the case against Modi in 2012 under the PMLA in connection with a mega-deal for IPL telecast rights.The non-bailable warrant will now pave the way for ED to issue a red corner notice against Modi as he is based out of UK.
