AP CS reviews allotment of water for industries Hyderabad, Aug 6 (INN): As per the industrial water allotment policy the Government of Andhra Pradesh made the process simpler and faster for allotment water for industries under this policy, Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao emphasized.
The Chief Secretary chaired a meeting with the Officers of Industries, Finance and Water Resources Departments to review on the allotment of water for industries, establishment and acquiring of land for industries and to discuss on various industrial related issues.
The new water policy implementing by the government was empowered the industrial promotion committees headed by the District Collector at the District Level and the Chief Secretary will the allotments at the State level. As per the present policy Government allocated 10% of water from each reservoir for industrial policy.
For a total extent of 251,094 acres industrial area there is a demand of 29.33 TMC of water in East Godavari (Kakinada), Prakasam (Donakonda), Nellore (Krishnapatnam), Chittoor (Srikalahasthi, Yerpedu, Sri City), Kurnool (Orvakallu) and Ananthapur (Gorantla, Hindupur) Districts are the major areas identified for supply of water for industries.
Officers of Water Resources Department has briefed about the demand of water for identified land for industries. An extent of 22,203 acres in and around Hindupur (Hindupur cluster) is available for industrial Purpose and water demand is assessed considering 70% of the gross area and water demand worked out to 1.96 TMC. APIIC has a land bank of about 17355 acres in Chittoor district, water requirement is 1.53 TMC. Pipe line from Kandaleru and Somasila carries the total discharge required for Yerpedu ' Srikalahasti cluster and Sri City cluster up to proposed reservoir near Yerpedu. The water demand for Sri City is indicated as 1 TMC. An extent of 36,570 acres in and around Orvakal to be developed as industrial parks, water demand is assessed considering 70% of the gross area and the demand comes to 3.23 TMC option of water is from Srisailam Back waters and Tungabhdra LLC. An extent of 11750 acres in and around Krishnapatnam to be developed as industrial parks, water demand is assessed considering 70% of the gross area and the demand comes to 1.04 TMC. An extent of 36922acres in and around Donakonda to be developed as industrial parks, the water demand is assessed considering 70% of the gross area and the demand comes to 3.26 TMC. Technical details, source wise options and identified reservoirs are explained by the Officers in the meeting.
The Chief Secretary has directed the concerned that water allocation needs to be made officially by Water Resources Department. A call has to be taken on funding pattern whether PPP or EPC mode and detailed engineering DPRs are to be prepared for implementation of the projects.
Senior Officers Aditynath Das, S.S. Rawat, Kartikeya Misra, District Collector Kurnool Vijaya Mohan and others attended the meeting.
