Google unveiled a new corporate structure creating an umbrella company dubbed Alphabet. Google' co-founder Larry Page announced the formation of a new firm, Alphabet, of which Google will be a part.
The company's founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page will run Alphabet-Page as CEO and Brin as president. 'Alphabet is mostly a collection of companies,' Page said in the blog post. Explaining Sundar's elevation, Page said he (Pichai) has really stepped up since October of last year, when he took on product and engineering responsibility for Google's Internet businesses.
Sundar pichai hailed from Chennai; tamilnadu and he studied at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, where he received a Bachelor of Technology. He completed MS from Stanford and obtained an MBA from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
'Sundar's' rise within Google tracks closely those of other Indian Americans in the IT industry ' Hyderabad-born Satya Nadella became CEO of Microsoft in 2014.
