TPCC accuses TRS Govt of harassing artists Hyderabad, Aug 11 (INN): TPCC Chief Spokesperson D Shravan Kumar on Tuesday condemned the lathicharge and arrest of nearly 100 artists in Yadagirigutta by the local police.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here, Shravan Kumar said that the local police withdrew permission to conduct Dhoom Dham at Yadigiriguttta at the last minute. Later, the artists were lathicharged and arrested. He said never in the past, artists were targeted by the State Government. He said a delegation of TPCC leaders would call on DGP Anurag Sharma on Wednesday seeking action against the guilty police officials.
Shravan Kumar said a similar incident took place on June 21 when artists were targeted by the government. He alleged that instead of being "people's friendly", the Telangana police officials have been behaving like "pink party police." Stating that artists are neither naxalites nor ISI agents, he questioned the State Government's motive behind targeting them.
