CBN Meets Modi: Centre gives new hopes on Special Status The much awaited meeting of AP CM Chandrababu Naidu with PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday concluded while ago and it has brought some new hopes for the people of bifurcated state.The Centre on Tuesday announced that a "road map" for implementing key provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act would be prepared. Union finance minister Arun Jaitley made this announcement after meeting with Naidu in presence of Prime minister.
He also announced that a final view on granting special status to the state would be taken "reconciling" with the Finance Commission's recommendations.' Jaitley said that NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Arvind Panagariya has been asked to discuss with the state government implementation of Sections 46, 90 and 94.
''The Prime Minister was of the clear view that whatever is in the Act that level of assistance has to be given to the state government, the Finance Minister said. The meeting between Modi and Naidu lasted for about one and half hours, Jaitley said addressing media
It may be recalled that naidu and his government facing immense pressure from opposition parties regarding the special status issue. YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy recently staged a dharna in Delhi demanding that the central government grant special category status to AP.
Section 46 pertains to the award made by the 13th Finance Commission, Section 90 relates to the Polavaram Irrigation Project and Section 94 deals with the fiscal measures, including offer of tax incentives industrialisation and economic growth.
As per reports CBN Highlighted the State's concerns with the centre and the Finance Commission over the past year before Modi. AP Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Finance chief secretary PV Ramesh too part of the meeting.
