TS Govt to regularise illegal constructions
Hyderabad, Aug 25 (INN): Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday announced that the Telangana Government would soon launch a scheme to regularise all the illegal constructions and layouts across the State.
Addressing a press conference at Karimnagar Collectorate here, the Chief Minister said that the government would launch "Patna Jyothi" wherein all illegal structures and layouts would be regularised. He said that the State Government was taking several initiatives for the healthier growth of all sections of the society by ensuring people's participation. He said Rs. 25,000 crore were being spent for the development of rural areas through 'Grama Jyothi' programme.
KCR said that Telangana inherited several problems and challenge from the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh. He said all those problems were being solved one after the other. He said 30-year-old energy crisis was solved within six months after State's formation. He said 91,500 MW energy would be produced in the State in the next four years at a cost of Rs. 25,000 crore.
The Chief Minister said irrigation was the most neglected sector in united AP. The Andhra rulers have created inter-State disputes on almost all irrigation projects located in Telangana region. He said water could not be provided despite spending crores of rupees on those irrigation projects. Citing an example, he said Rs. 7,500 crore were spent on Devadula project. Although the project was supposed to get water in 170 days, not even half of the project has been completed. However, the TRS Government is taking measures to resolve those disputes, he claimed.
KCR said that the Pranahita-Chevella was originally designed to store 14 TMC of water. However, the TRS Government redesigned the project and now it has a capacity of 200 TMC. He also condemned criticism by the opposition parties on redesigning of the Pranahita Chevella project. He accused the opposition leaders of trying to gain political mileage by criticising the government. He also accused them of inciting union leaders for going on strike.
The Chief Minister strongly defended the government's decision to introduce cheap liquor. He said that the move was aimed at eradicating the menace of 'gudamba' which has claimed several lives.
