20 killed as heavy rains lash AP, TS Hyderabad, Sept 6 (INN): At least 20 persons were killed and several others were injured as heavy rains lashed several parts of Andhra Pradesh.
According to officials, maximum deaths due to rain-related incidents were reported from Nellore district. Six people were killed in Nellore, four each in Krishna and Prakasam, three in Guntur, two in East Godavari and one each in Anantapur and Srikakulam.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reviewed the situation with the senior officials on Sunday. He held a tele-conference with the District Collectors and directed them to take required steps to help the victims and minimise damage. He also announced a compensation of Rs. 4 lakh to the families of those killed due to heavy rains.
Heavy rains also lashed several parts of Telangana State. Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Nalgonda and Khammam received heavy rainfall. The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad too received intermittent and heavy rainfall throughout the day on Sunday.
