RTI revelation: Modi expenses for foreign trips A shocking revelation was made about PM Narendra Modi's foreign trips in last one year. As per the reports the foreign trips of modi cost the exchequer over Rs 37 crore in last one year. Documents accessed under RTI Act reveal that Indian missions in 16 countries spent Rs 37.22 crore in one year for modi's trips. Lokesh Batra approached individual missions seeking expense related information on the PM's trips.
Modi visited 20 countries between June 2014 and June 2015 and the list of countries include the United States of America, Australia;Japan, China, Germany and Sri Lanka. Among all Modi Australia trip proved to be the most expensive one and the govt spent Rs. 8.91 crore for the Australia trip. The cheapest trip was Bhutan which cost Rs 41.33 lakh. However, the authorities denied to disclose the information regarding the visit to Japan, Sri Lanka, France and South Korea.
In his first year as PM, Modi allocated 14.5% of his tenure to visit 17 countries, while ex PM Manmohan Singh spent 12.9% of his tenure to visit 12 countries in his first year.
