KTR lays foundation for water grid works Hyderabad, Sept 16 (INN): Panchayat Raj Minister K. Tarakarama Rao laid the foundation stone for the Water Grid works in Nagasala of Jadcherla mandal of Mahabubnagar district on Wednesday.
Health Minister Dr. Lakshma Reddy, TRS MP Jithender Reddy, MLA Srinivas Goud and other leaders were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, KTR said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has conceptualised and implemented Water Grid project to quench the thirst of nearly three-and-a-half crore people in Telangana State. He said that the project would ensure tapped water supply to about 85 lakh households in the next three years. He accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of creating hurdles in the project. He said Naidu was unable to digest the development programmes being launched by KCR and therefore, he has been create obstacles. He said efforts were also being made to stop the Palamuru Lift Irrigation project.
KTR said that injustice was being done with Telangana in sharing of Krishna and Godavari Waters. As against the allocation of 900 TMC from Godavari and 300 TMC from Krishna, Telangana was getting just 40 TMC from Krishna for drinking water purpose.
The Minister announced that all households in Mahabubnagar district would get tapped water in the next two years. Stating that Mahabubnagar faced discrimination in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh, he said that the TRS Government would ensure speedy development of the district.
