Kishan Reddy slams Govt over Liberation Day Hyderabad, Sept 16 (INN): Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy has strongly criticised TRS Government for not celebrating the Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 at the official level.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP Headquarters here on Wednesday, Kishan Reddy said that while in opposition, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has staged a dharna demanding official celebration of the Liberation Day. However, after coming to power, he ignored the issue due to his party's alliance with the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.
Kishan Reddy informed that the BJP would celebrate the occasion at village level in all the districts. In Greater Hyderabad, booth-level celebrations will be organised. The main event will be held at the State BJP Headquarters at Nampally where flag hoisting will be done at 9 AM. The event will be attended by Union Ministers Bandaru Dattatraya and Ahir Hansraj Gangaram. At 10 AM, the BJP leaders would pay floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at his statue opposite Assembly.
The BJP leader said that the Hyderabad Liberation Day celebration was not against Muslims as being depicted by the MIM leaders. He said nearly 4,500 people sacrificed their lives to get freedom in erstwhile Hyderabad State. They include several Muslims like Shoebullah Khan. He said KCR has been praising Nizam only to please Muslims while ignoring the real issues being confronted by the community.
