Talasani dismisses allegations of deletion of voters' names Hyderabad, Sept 21 (INN): Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Monday dismissed the allegations of Congress party of deletion of lakhs of names from the electoral rolls of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
Addressing a press conference at the State Secretariat here, Talasani asked Congress leaders to explain as to how it was possible to remove 1.30 lakh out of 2.35 lakh voters from Sanathnagar Assembly constituency alone. He asked whether any elector has lodged any complaint in this regard. He said that the GHMC did not initiate any process to remove the names from the voters' list. However, the Congress leaders have been leveling baseless allegations only to gain cheap publicity, he said.
Talasani also accused the Congress leaders of trying to gain political mileage out of farmers' suicides. He said by increasing the compensation amount to Rs. 6 lakh for the families of those farmers who committed suicide, the TRS Government has tried to restore the confidence. He said that the Congress party has no moral right to criticise the TRS Government as maximum number of farmers' suicides took place during Congress regime of 10 years.
The minister asked Congress leaders to restrain from criticising the government and play the role of a responsible opposition by giving constructive suggestion.
