TDP to get its first BC president in 32 years It's almost confirmed now. TDP is going to get its first BC president. AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly decided to appoint Srikakulam district MLA and senior leader Kala Venkata Rao as the President of AP TDP. The official announcement is likely to be made on this only after Chandrababu wraps up his Singapore trip.
Kala Venkata Rao won four times as MLA from Unukuru. He also served as the Minister once and worked as Rajya Sabha MP once. Kalavenkata Rao is one of the prominent leaders in North Coastal Andhra and he belonged to BC caste. Kala was among a group of TDP leaders who quit the party to take plunge into the then newly-floated PR, before the 2009 elections. However Kala returned back to TDP in no time.
Despite this, Naidu kept his trust in Kala and is set to appoint him as the President of AP TDP.This is the first time that BC leader is going to head TDP in its 32 years history. Meanwhile L Ramana is likely to head the Telangana State unit. Presidents of both units would be appointed simultaneously.
