TS Govt signs PPA with Chattisgarh for 1,000 MW Hyderabad, Sept 22 (INN): The Telangana Government on Tuesday signed the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Chattisgarh Government to buy 1,000 MW of power.
The PPA was signed between Chattisgarh Power Distribution Company Managing Director Ankit Anand and Telangana Central Power Distribution Company chairman and managing director Raghu Reddy in the presence of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao at his camp office. On November 3, 2014, both Chattisgarh and Telangana Governments had signed an MoU for purchase of 1,000 MW. The same has been given a final shape on Tuesday. The PPA would be valid for next 12 years.
A power line is being laid from Vardha to Dichpally to bring energy from Chattisgarh. The Chattisgarh Government has also accepted Telangana Government's request for purchase of another 1000 MW of power. Officials informed the Chief Minister that a 765 KV Double Circuit line is being constructed to bring 4,350 MW of power. The works are expected to be completed by this month end.
Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy, GENCO CMD Prabhakar Rao, Energy Secretary Arvind Kumar, Chattisgarh GENCO Managing Director S.B. Agarwal were also present on the occasion.
