AP CS reviews power interruptions in Prakasam Hyderabad, Sept 24 (INN): Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao convened a meeting with the Southern Power Distribution Corporation Limited (SPDCL) and Energy Department Officers to review on - reasons for frequent interruptions and voltage fluctuations in Prakasam District.
It was observed that compare to other Districts Prakasam District facing the Low Voltage problem due to lack of 33/11 KV substations. There is a need to set up more number of 33/11 KV substations in urban and rural areas of Prakasam District, Chief Secretary opined.
The SPDCL has come forward with a proposal to ground 240 Nos. sub-stations in the District. SPDCL has got sanctioned projects for 5 Nos. of 33/11 KV in urban areas under Integrated Power Development (IPDS) Scheme with a cost of Rs.8.00 Crores and 40 Nos. of 33/11 KV substations in rural areas under Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) Scheme Rs.63.00 Crores, in Prakasam District. The SPDCL Officers informed that they would be immediately calling for tenders and requested for cooperation in identifying the lands for construction of substations.
The Chief Secretary authorised the District Collector Sujatha Sharma over phone to identify the lands and handing over advance possession of the land for construction of 33/11 KV substations both in the urban and rural areas after suitably identifying the land and the SPDCL officers are requested to get in touch with the Collector, Prakasam District for taking over the land.
Energy Department Secretary Ajay Jain, TRANSCO CMD Vijayanand and others attended the meeting.
