Ban on internet for two days in J&K Citizens of Jammu and Kashmir will celebrate Eid without Internet services. The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered termination of internet services for two days. Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) directed the service providers to snap all data services from'5 am'on Friday till'10 pm'on Saturday. The directive by police to all service providers, on the eve of Eid, comes amidst the controversy over beef ban.
Until last year, sacrificing cattle was a common practice but recently high court imposed ban of selling Beef and slaughtering.' The official's fears that some mischievous elements would defy the court order as a mark of protest and would post the pictures on social media, creating communal tensions.The internet ban has been imposed to ensure that no videos can be uploaded and that social networking sites remain inaccessible
Broadband services also remained suspended across the state since Friday morning. The ban will remain in force for two days to prevent anti-social elements from stoking communal tension in the state. Its worth to mention here that few days before Gujarat government has suspended mobile internet services across the state following detention of community leader Hardik Patel.
