Siasat's hoardings on 12% Muslim quota removed Hyderabad, Sept 30 (INN): In an apparent bid to suppress the movement seeking 12% reservation for Muslims in Telangana, the TRS Government on Wednesday removed a hoarding installed in the city by leading Urdu newspaper, Siasat Urdu Daily.
The hoardings, installed on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, had a text questioning Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on the status of his promise of giving 12% quota in jobs and education for Muslims of Telangana. "KCR had promised to give 12% Muslim quota in just four months after coming to power. We questioned him for non-fulfillment of his promise even after 16 months. TRS Government apparently disliked our campaign and ordered the removal of hoarding," said Amer Ali Khan, News Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily, who is spearheading the campaign.
Hoardings were part of the massive campaign launched by Siasat Urdu Daily about 20 days ago. The campaign began with the submission of representations to all elected representatives, District Collectors, MROs and other senior officials. In the last 20 days, hundreds of representations have been submitted by the common Muslims and various organisations to almost all the officials and elected representatives on the issue of 12% Muslim reservation. Amer Ali Khan himself held massive public meetings in Warangal, Nizamabad and other places across Telangana on the issue.
Several representations have been made to all the TRS leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, TRS MP K. Kavitha and other leaders. The Siasat Urdu Daily has been prominently publishing the photographs, on daily basis, of representatives of various NGOs submitting representation to different leaders and officials.
In order to intensify the campaign, it was decided to install hoardings across the State, beginning with the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Subsequently, hoardings were installed at Haj House, Mehdipatnam Rythu Bazar, Greenlands near CM's residence, Khairtabad and other prominent places in the city. "Although the authorities have cited no reason, we suspect that the Chief Minister apparently disliked the idea of people being reminded of his failed promise. As a responsible media organisation we have raised the issue. Our involvement got necessitated especially due to the silence adopted by some so-called Muslim leaders on the issue of 12% Muslim quota. Removal of hoarding will only strengthen our resolve to fight for 12% reservation and we will not remain silent unless we achieve this goal," said Amer Ali Khan.
