KCR wants Palamuru project in two years Hyderabad, Oct 3 (INN): Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has directed the officials to complete the Palamuru Lift Irrigation Project in Mahabubnagar district within two years.
The Chief Minister issued these directed during a review meeting at his camp office on Saturday. The meeting was also attended by Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao, Industries Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Health Minister Lakshma Reddy, Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Niranjan Reddy, MLAs from Mahabubnagar district including Srinivas Goud, A. Venkateshwarulu and M. Janardhan Reddy, Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma, Mahabubnagar District Collector Sri Devi and other senior officials.
KCR directed the officials to hasten the process of land acquisition and payment of compensation. He said works on pump house canals, reservoir and tunnel should be taken up simultaneously. He said earlier construction of irrigation projects used to take nearly eight years. However, he said his government wants the project to be completed in short time.
The Chief Minister said thousands of people from Mahabubnagar district were migrating to other places in search of livelihood due to lack of water. He said the completion of project would prevent migration. He asked officials to complete the survey works and invite tenders within two weeks.
KCR said he would review the works on irrigation projects on every Monday. He also asked Harish Rao to review the works on daily basis. He directed Jupally, Lakshma Reddy and Niranjan Reddy to take the responsibility of land acquisition. He said his government was giving top priority to irrigation projects and budget for other schemes would be allocated only after allotting adequate funds for irrigation sector. He said nearly Rs. 25,000 crore are proposed to be spent on irrigation projects.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government was making efforts to ensure proper supply of power to lift irrigation projects. He said a coordination committee would be constituted by involving officials from TRANSCO and GENCO.
