Students being provided super fine rice: Eatala Hyderabad, Oct 7 (INN): Finance and Civil Supplies Minister Eatala Rajender on Wednesday informed the Telangana Legislative Assembly that the State Government was providing super fine quality rice (Sanna Biyyam) for the consumption of students pursuing their studies in various Government Welfare Residential Hostels and schools in the State for the first time in the country.
Replying to a question raised by TRS MLA Rasmai Balakishan and others during Question Hour, the minister said a quantity of 71729 MTs (32,299 MTs for Hostels and 39,430 MTs for Schools) of super fine quality rice was supplied covering 3036 hostels with 5.39 lakh students and 34,319 schools with 29.86 lakh students. He said that an amount of Rs. 104.78 crore has been spent so far towards subsidy n distribution of super fine quality rice to hostels and schools.
An amount of Rs. 2200 crore has been provided as budget under subsidy on rice scheme which will cover subsidy on issue of super fine quality rice to hostels and schools also.
