APSSDC launches 'Master of Trainers' programme
Hyderabad, Nov 30 (INN): There is a lot of difference between skilled and unskilled labour those who were preferred to migrate to Gulf Countries as Home Maid Servants and other professional jobs, Managing Director and CEO of A.P. State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) Ghanta Subba Rao said.
In the inaugural session of a three-day Master of Trainers (MOT) Programme on 'Gender, Migration and Development: A matter of Rights' held here on Monday, keynote address was given by Ghanta Subba Rao. He informed that the Government of Andhra Pradesh constituted APSSDC on the lines of National Skill Development Corporation to take the state on a speedy path of development. The training course was jointly organised by the APSSDC and UN Women.
The training was led by UN Women Training Centre in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and the Centre, is dedicated to supporting the United Nations and other stakeholders to realize commitments to gender equality, women's empowerment and women's rights through transformative training and learning.
APSSDC Director K. Lakshmi Narayana said that the training was attended by participants from representatives of the state Government, recruitment agencies and civil society organizations and non-profits working on the issue of migration in East Godavari, West Godavari and Kadapa districts of the State.
The three day long training is expected to transfer the learning from the participants to prospective women migrants on the ground on the skills as well as their rights and entitlements throughout the complete cycle of migration, from country of origin to destination. The experiences of the Women who have worked as House Maid Servants will be shared in the training programme.

Patrica Barandun, Deputy Representative, UN Women Office for India, Bhutan, the Maldives and Srilanka appreciated Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for initiating and organizing the training programme.
