GHMC promises 100% door-to-door garbage collection
Hyderabad, Dec 2 (INN): GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy has directed all the Assistant Medical Officers of Health (AMOHs) to see that 100% door to door garbage collection is done properly.
During a review meeting held on Wednesday, the Commissioner has instructed the AMOHs to involve Residential Welfare Associations, Self Help Groups, Apartment owners, Sanitary Field Assistants and MEPMA groups so that they could interact with the households to collect the garbage, duly segregating the waste in two separate bins, dry and wet, separately with the help of rickshaw pullers in their colonies.
While interacting with the Medical Officers, the Commissioner stressed the need for maintaining punctuality and commitment while performing duties. He said it has been observed that the sanitation workers were not attending to their duties on time. He directed the AMOHs to personally monitor and ensure that the sanitation works starts by 6 AM sharp every day. He also directed them to send the photographs through Whatsapp about the lifting of garbage every day to him in the early hours so as to know the working conditions to improve the same in a more appropriate way.
The Commissioner also directed the Additional Commissioner (H&S) to see that Prime Minister's Suraksha Yojana (an insurance scheme) where Rs. 12/- per annum is implemented for all the sanitation workers in the GHMC. He also stressed to check up whether the deductions of the sanitation workers with regard to PF and ESI were being done on regular basis or not.
He also enquired with the Chief Transport Officer about the fleet of vehicles. He said that the sanitation workers having driving license could be deployed to take up auto-trolleys work under self employment scheme.
The Commissioner directed the AMOHs to take up awareness campaigns with regard to two bin system in colleges, educational institutions, schools, etc., asking children to educate their parents about the new system of collection of garbage.
