GHMC to take up re-carpeting of 1800 KM roads
Hyderabad, Dec 8 (INN): The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is planning to take up recarpeting of B.T roads on a stretch of around 1,800 kilometers at cost of Rs. 337 crores.
Apart from this, the GHMC is also taking up pothole works where most of the roads have been damaged. These works have been taken up with modernized technology using more scientific methods to maintain the quality of the roads for which a separate App has being planned. The proposed App will facilitate the common people to take pictures of damaged roads and forward the same to concerned Executive Engineers.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting held by GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy with Additional Commissioner (IT) Surender Mohan, Chief Engineer Suresh Kumar and other senior officials from Centre for Good Governance.
The Commissioner said that with this concept, the GHMC proposed to complete the entire recarpeting of roads before the end of January 2016.
The Engineering wing has identified 6,795 potholes while the Sanitary Field Assistants have identified 4,382 potholes. So far 8,300 potholes have already been repaired with the help of instant road repair teams and road doctor vehicles and remaining 2,850 pot holes will also be taken up on priority basis, said the Commissioner.
