SCR gets Rs. 6412 Cr in Railway Budget


 
Hyderabad, Feb 25 (INN): South Central Railway General Manager Ravindra Gupta has claimed that the SCR got the highest allocations for the ongoing projects, as compared to earlier years, in the Railway Budget presented by Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu in Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad, Ravindra Gupta informed that towards infrastructure, the SCR has been sanctioned an staggering amount of Rs 6412 Crs for the year 2016-17, which is 145% more than the year 2015-16. For New Lines, the budgetary grant for 2016-17 is Rs 1219 Crs which is 102% more than previous year. For Doubling works, the budgetary grant for 2016-17 is Rs 1332.85 Crs which is 540% more than previous year. For Bridges, the budgetary grant for 2016-17 is Rs 31.51 Crs which is 17% more than previous year.

For Road over Bridges, the budgetary grant for 2016-17 is Rs 155.77 Crs, which is 53% more than previous year. For Traffic Facilities the budgetary grant is Rs 82.24 Crs for the year 2016-17 which is 102% more than previous year.

The new works sanctioned in the Railway Budget include Ghatkesar'Raigir (Yadadri) MMTS project at an estimated cost of Rs.330 Crs; Development of satellite Rail Terminal at Cherlapalli Railway station at an estimated cost of Rs.80 Crs; Development of Tiruchanur Railway station (conversion of 'C'-class to 'B'-class Station) to decongest Tirupati Railway station at an estimated cost of Rs.10 Crs; 40 Road Over Bridges (ROB); Rs. 20 Crore out of Rs. 269 Cr sanctioned for Workshop at Kazipet for Wagon Periodical Overhauling; Augmentation of MEMU rake maintenance facility in Rajahmundry sanctioned at a cost of Rs.7.2 Crs and Kazipet Electrical Loco Shed augmentation of homing capacity from 125 locos to 175 locos at an estimated cost of Rs. 18 Crs.

The budgetary allocations for important ongoing new line projects include Rs.70 Crs for Peddapalli'Karimnagar-Nizamabad project; Rs. 110 Crs for Jaggayyapet'Mellacheruvu'Janpahad project; Rs. 100 Crs for Nandyal'Yerraguntla project; Rs 80 Crs for Gulbarga'Bidar project; Rs.180 Crs for Munirabad'Mahabubnagar project; Rs. 30 Crs for Manoharabad'Kothapalli project; Rs. 180 Crs for Nadikudi'Srikalahasti project; Rs.200 Crs for Kotipalli'Narsapur; Rs. 80 Crs for Vijayawada'Bhimavaram'Nidadavolu doubling and electrification and Rs. 31 Crs for Mancherial'Peddampet tripling project.

Ravindra Gupta also listed out other projects and initiatives sanctioned for the South Central Railway.
