Drivers of IT Sector to get free medicare Hyderabad, March 12 (INN): The Telangana State Cabs and Bus Operators Association (TSCBOA) has announced free medicare to all the drivers who are working for IT sector in Hyderabad. The medical facilities will also be extended to the drivers' families.
The announcement was made by TSCBOA president Syed Nizamuddin while addressing the 9th Training and Appraisal Session organised by the Association in collaboration with Cyberabad Police Commissionerate and Cyberabad Society for Security Council at HSBC Campus in Raheja Mindsapce at Madhapur here on Saturday. He said the drivers working for the IT sector have been suffering from several health-related issues like BP, Sugar, insomnia, spondylitis and other serious complications including heart and kidney ailments. He said that the drivers' health got deteriorated primarily due to their odd duty hours, lack of proper sleep, not taking food on time and driving on bad roads. Therefore, he said all the drivers working for the IT Sector and their families would be extended free medicare, which includes major surgeries.
Syed Nizamuddin said that the decision to provide free medicare was taken in view of completion of one year of Drivers' Training Programme. He said more than 12,000 drivers have been imparted training during that last 9 programmes held in various IT companies. The first training session was held on February 7, 2015.
He said medical camps would be held soon for complete screenings of all drivers and their families. Based on the advise of doctors, they would be extended free treatment for the diseases they are suffering from. He said that the TSCBOA would also conduct special drives to create health awareness among the drivers.
The meeting was also addressed by Assistance Commissioner of Police - Traffic (Kukatpally Zone) Ashok Kumar, Traffic Training Institute Inspector Shankar and HSBC Vice-President Vikas.
The experts urged the drivers to maintain discipline while on or off-the roads. They were given a Power Point presentation on defensive driving. They were also shown various clips on women's safety and traffic rules. The drivers were also administered oath that they will not only ensure women's safety but also create awareness among others on this sensitive issue.
The HSBC official appreciated the offer made by TSCBOA of providing free medicare to drivers and their families. He hoped that the move would help thousands of drivers who could not afford costly treatment.
