SBI donates two buses to UoH Hyderabad, May 8 (INN): The State Bank of India handed over two 24 seater Mahindra buses for use of the University fraternity.
SBI Chief General Manager Hardayal Prasad handed over the buses to UoH Vice-Chancellor Prof. Appa Rao Podile in the presence of officials, teachers and physically challenged students of the university at a function held on Saturday. This donation has been made as part of the Corporate Social responsibility of the SBI and shall benefit the convenience of 141 physically challenged students and University staff.
The buses each costing about Rs. 12.5 lakh, will serve the transport needs of the Campus fraternity. Receiving the buses Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Appa Rao said, 'Though SBI is a commercial organisation; it is committed to fulfil the social obligation through Corporate Social Responsibility activities'. These buses will benefit the campus fraternity, he added. Prof. Appa Rao said that, we also look forward to long term association with the SBI and other organisations. He also recalled the support by SBI in donating a 32 seater Swaraj Mazda mini bus to the University in 2011.
Hardayal Prasad conveyed his happiness at the University accepting these buses. He gave an account of the various activities SBI has taken up among the CSR in providing help in the areas of Sanitation, Health and Education through the fifteen thousand branches all over the country. As part of CSR, SBI has made available more than 15000 water purifiers, more than 50000 fans and bathrooms in many girl schools.
Senior Managers of SBI from different zones and the Manager of Hyderabad University Branch, S Gopinath and other staff were also present. Pandu Reddy, Finance Officer gave the welcome while Cdr (retd.) Challa Venkateshwar, Deputy Registrar (Estate & Transport Section) proposed the vote of thanks.
