 News: Special Stories | SCR officials Monitoring Sankranthi rush Hyderabad, Jan 13 (INN): With Sankranthi rush of Passenger Traffic coming to its peak in the last two days before the festival, the South Central Railway officials has swung in to action to monitor the movement of trains including special trains, besides the rush of rail using traffic at major railway stations, so as to ensure smooth and safe travel of rail passengers.
The SCR has scheduled 203 special trains exclusively to the Sankranthi festival in addition to augmentation of extra coaches to regular train services.
At Secunderabad Railway Station, the Railway officials and supervisors from Commercial Department stationed themselves on the platform to personally check each and every aspect of Passenger Amenities and facilities, besides the initiating steps to handle the rush at booking counters so that there is no inconvenience caused to the rail users. Similar facilities were also arranged at Hyderabad and Kacheguda Railway stations.
The officials ensured and monitored crowd handling at the booking counters by means of providing additional booking counters and guiding the passengers to use the Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM's) for purchasing the tickets. Additional Railway Protection force personnel were deployed to ensure optimal security. Continuous monitoring of crowd through CCTV's cameras is being done to avoid any untoward incident. RPF personnel helped the passengers to board in their coaches to avoid stampede.
Likewise arrangements of Catering facilities were ensured thoroughly so that the passengers do not feel any inconvenience. Ticket checking staff were deployed in huge numbers to monitor crowd control and ensure there are no ticketless travellers. Staff were deployed to disseminate the information of train movements and other details to rail passengers at regular intervals. The details regarding special and regular trains are also being relayed to the passengers by making frequent announcements through Passenger Address system and also displaying through LED/Train information display boards.
The zone is also fully geared to handle the return rush of traffic of rail passengers which is expected to peak after the festival.
