Cong worried about freaky Friday, Jagan Hyderabad: Eyes of the intelligence sleuths on political beat are riveted on September 2 this year. No, they are not looking for anarchists or bombers. It is for the political destabilisers. It's the day when former CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy died in a helicopter crash. It is also the day when YSR's son Jagan Mohan Reddy claimed the chief ministerial gaddi.
The situation is not favourable for Jagan now, but there is no saying. Some of the pro-Jagan MLAs who quit to prove their loyalty towards Jagan are said to be repenting their letters to the Speaker. Some others are planning to quit.
The state intelligence has indicated to their bosses that there could be a sort of showdown from the Jagan group or Jagan himself on September 2. The YSR Congress might use the death anniversary to prove a point that they have in fact resigned to oppose the way YSR's image is being tarnished in the State.
The CBI raids and chargesheet of Jagan is construed as 'trampling the image of his father.' Chances are also that some more MLAs may resign on this day.
These are indications given by the MLAs in touch with APCC chief Botcha and the CM. There might be a backlash from some MLAs and Jagan might come up with a programme to put the government in a spot. While a dozen MLAs of the 29 resigned could be cajoled back there are reports that another six might support Jagan in the name of YSR on his death anniversary.
Speaker Manohar Reddy is also in a dilemma on these resignations. If he approves the resignations of Congress MLAs, he will be under pressure to take up the resignations of Telangana -TDP MLAs. Then the TRS MLAs might come up with fresh resignations in the name of Telangana.
N Prasanna Kumar Reddy was summoned by the Speaker to appear in his office on Monday. Talks are that he might face disqualification. Despite these developments Kiran Kumar Reddy is maintaining his poise.
Last night after iftar, Kiran went all the way to congratulate Rosaiah and his family on being selected as the governor of Tamil Nadu. Rosaiah in an informal chat with the CM and other leaders said that there would be no problem for the Congress govern'ment till the 2014 elections.
