No Monsoon Session? Hyderabad: It looks like there would be no monsoon session of the Assembly this year. With the prevailing political situation in the State, sources
say, Congress had all but made up its mind not to hold the session.
Also, the main opposition party Telugu Desam, with many internal problems had also remained silent on this issue. Normally the monsoon session of the Assembly should be held in the months of July, August every year. But there appears to no urgency on the part of Congress to convene a monsoon session.
To go with the Telangana issue, the recent resignations submitted by Kadapa MP YS Jagan loyalists had posed unwanted problems for the ruling party. As per rules, Assembly session should be convened with a gap of not more than 6 months each year.
The state Assembly had met in June to elect Speaker and Deputy Speaker. So technically speaking, the ruling party has time till December to hold the next Assembly session.
In normal scenario, the Monsoon session might have been convened just after the election of speaker in June. But, the political situation is very different at present and Congress would not take any risk to convene a session in the immediate future at least till December.
With problems galore, there stands little chance of Assembly being convened before December, which means a Winter Session of the Assembly would be held ruling out Monsoon session for this year.
