Secret grilling of Tollywood stars planned Hyderabad:: Tollywood seems to have hit rough weather lately. While some big stars are facing CBI grilling in connection with the Emaar villas they own, the cops are now gearing up to quiz some big names that came out in a series of drug racket busts in the last few months.
The grilling in drugs cases, however, will be a secret exercise. The time has been fixed for the secret 'rendezvous' and the 'invitees' have been shortlisted. The venue has more or less been finalised.
After refraining from questioning some Tollywood bigshots for months despite gathering evidence against them in the form of call details and confessions soon after the drug busts in the city, the sleuths have finally decided to question them.
Sources disclosed that a team of police officials are all set to quiz several Tollywood stars whose names cropped up during the course of investigation into the drug rackets.
The questioning is expected to begin this weekend as senior police officials have given their nod for the same. To begin with, the sleuths are likely to call in Varun Sandesh, whose name is the latest to surface in a recent drug bust.
As per the plan, the Tollywood stars would be called to an undisclosed location for questioning. The time the sleuths have chosen is between 6.00 a.m and 8.30 a.m.
The key part of the plan, however, seems to be to keep the media away from the entire 'operation' so as not to tarnish the image of the film stars. The secrecy on the 'venue' and time of questioning is a pointer to this fact.
'The media has to be kept at bay. Hence, everything will happen in secrecy. This (questioning) will spread over a few days as per the convenience and availability of the film stars,' sources said.
It is learnt that the sleuths have compiled a list of top actors and actresses and the process of intimating them, along with the assurance that the media will be kept out of the exercise, has begun.
The stars will be counselled on the illeffects of the use of Cocaine and other drugs and warned of serious action if their names resurface in such rackets in future.
