Vangaveeti join hands with Jagan Vijayawada: Former legislator and extinct political outfit Praja Rajyam Party leader Vangaveeti Radha Krishna has finally walked into the YSR Congress, putting an end to speculations over his political future.
Mr Radha Krishna welcomed YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday to garland the statue of Congress slain legislator Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga.
Both Mr Jaganmohan Reddy and Mr Radha Krishna exchanged greetings and together garlanded the statue. Then, they went to the Maha Dharna venue at the Sub-Collectorate.
Mr Radha Krishna's presence with Mr Jaganmohan Reddy had given a new lease of life to his supporters in the city, who cheered the combination of the two young leaders.
Mr Radha Krishna entered politics in 1989 but was discouraged by late Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy, a one-time friend of Mr Vangaveeti Ranga. However, Mr Radha Krishna insisted on continuing in politics and secured the Congress ticket in the 2004 Assembly elections.
After his victory from the party, he could not stay for long due to the presence of his family's arch rival Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru in the Congress politics.
He disassociated himself with the Congress and there was high speculation that he would go to the Telugu Desam, where he has good friends.
His mother and former MLA Vangaveeti Rathna Kumari too had some contacts in the Telugu Desam, as she was, for some time, the associate member of the TD Legislature Party. However, he opted for the PRP, when Megastar Chiranjeevi launched it.
He had contested the 2009 elections unsuccessfully on PRP ticket but continued to play active role in the party until its death came in last August following its merger with the Congress.
Coming back to the Congress was not his option as Mr Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru continues to play important role in the district Congress.
Though some of his family associates tried to bring him into the Congress fold, it did not work during the recent visit of APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana to the city for unveiling the statue of late Dr Rajasekhar Reddy on September 2.
Mr Radha Krishna's supporters created a ruckus when the APCC president did not turn up to garland the statue of Mr Vangaveeti Ranga. This had almost closed doors for Mr Radha Krishna in the Congress.
In this background, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy's Odarpu Yatra in the city and the subsequent Maha Dharna came as a blessing in disguise as it had shown him shelter. Mr Radha Krishna had waited for Mr Jaganmohan Reddy to visit the statue of Mr Ranga and finally joined hands with him.
The two young leaders met in the presence of YSR Congress Krishna district chief Samineni Udaya Bhanu, a staunch loyalist of late Mr Vangaveeti Ranga.
