KCR sees negative signals from Delhi
Hyderabd: The TRS leadership is anticipating a negative response from the Centre on the Telangana issue and is therefore sharpening its knives.
Last week, Union home minister P Chidambaram had promised some movement on the state issue post- Bakrid, but the pink party is of the view that a negative decision is round the corner.
Therefore, it has decided to prepare an action plan for the long haul at its politburo meeting on Nov. 10.
On Saturday, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao held a meeting at his residence. It was attended by MP Vijayashanti, 12 TRS MLAs, one MLC, two MLAs who recently joined the party from the TDP and several other party leaders.
At the lengthy meeting, KCR reportedly said he has been seeing negative signals from the Centre: for example, the filing of cases under the NSA and PD acts against Telangana activists in recent days. This indicates that the Centre is bracing up for some tough tactics in the region.
In particular, the TRS chief pointed out the case of TRS politburo member DR Cheruku Sudhakar who was arrested in Nalgonda and sent to the Warangal jail. In several other districts too, police are said to be planning to shortlist active TRS leaders who should be hit with NSA and PDA raps.
These signals indicate that the Centre is poised to take an adverse decision on the Telangana demand, he said.
Union home minister P Chidambaram was in Hyderabad on Saturday two days ahead of his Bakrid deadline, but made no comments on the Telangana issue. He held secret parleys with chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy at Police Academy.
Sources reveal that the two discussed the law and order situation in case the Centre takes a stand against formation of Telangana. Against this backdrop, KCR said, the party has to adopt different tactics from now on.
He called upon party leaders to invite elected representatives from other parties to the TRS. He also made it clear that the TRS would not accept any deal short of a separate state including Hyderabad.
