DS behind Kiran's moves HYDERABAD: PCC former president and MLC D Srinivas is now playing a new role in the state Congress politics and has became 'unofficial' adviser to chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to "set right'' state affairs and to tackle the Telangana issue in particular.
According to party sources, Kiran Kumar Reddy does not have good relations with Telangana ministers who are, therefore, not in a position to advise him on the Telangana issue.
Some ministers, though were very close to Reddy, also failed to discharge their duties on expected lines. One of the senior ministers, K Jana Reddy, is in a dilemma whether to support Telangana Congress or the party high command.
On the other hand, PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana does not have good relations with the chief minister. Telangana Congress MPs too are similarly placed visavis the chief minister. In this backdrop the high command chose Srinivas to set right the party affairs in the state.
In the coming days the chief minister will consult Srinivas whenever he wants to take a decision on Telangana. The high command is understood to have asked the chief minister to consult DS before taking any decision relating to Telangana.
It was only on the advice of DS that the chief minister ordered shifting of fasting Komatireddy Venkata Reddy to the NIMS here from Nalgonda. Congress leaders are now discussing ways of bringing Venkata Reddy's fast to an end.
The shifting has upset TRS chief's plans to reap political benefits from the Congress leader's fast. TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao had planned to visit Nalgonda on Sunday to entice some more Congress MLAs to join his party.
DS is in touch with several MLAs and MPs who are veering towards the TRS and has cautioned them against taking any hasty decision which might ruin their political future.
Srinivas has also started reviewing the situation in each Assembly constituency to find out the real problems Congress MLAs are facing and what kind of help the MLAs need from the party or the government.
'The chief minister and Srinivas will set right the party's internal affairs first. Thereafter, they will concentrate on strengthening the party at the grass root level' said a senior leader.
