TRS feeler causes a flutter in TDP

HYDERABAD: A feeler from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) that four TDP MLAs would join its ranks, created a flutter in the Opposition Telugu Desam Party.

The TRS dropped the bombshell at a time when the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu started his Rythu Porubata in Khammam district of Telangana region.

The news spread that Suddala Devaiah (Choppadandi, Karimnagar dist), Hanumanth Shinde (Jukkal, Nizamabad), P Ramulu (Achampet, Mahabubnagar) and G Jaipal Yadav (Kalwakurthy, Mahabubnagar) would join the TRS.

However, the four TDP MLAs denied the report as baseless and vowed to continue in the TDP.

"I am a BC MLA. That is why the TRS is spreading such rumour against me. If at all I wanted to join the TRS, I would have done it along with Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy," Shinde said.

Devaiah said he would fight for the separate Telangana state while continuing in the TDP.

When Pocharam and Gampa Govardhan joined the TRS recently, the names of the four MLAs also figured as possible quitters. However, Ramulu repeatedly denied the reports and averred that he would not join the TRS.

"Do not write stories on us basing on the information provided by some TRS leaders. Please take our version before filing the reports. I will never leave TDP," Ramulu recently told reporters.

Ramulu reiterated the same on Wednesday and added that he would fight for the T cause while continuing in the TDP.

When contacted a senior TRS MLA said: "All the four TDP MLAs have denied the report. First you publish their version. We have a lot of time to tell you how many leaders would join the TRS in future. I could not reveal the names of leaders willing to join the TRS from other parties right now."

A Congress MLA who recently termed the report that he was joining the TRS false, joined the TRS in the presence of party chief K Chandrasekhara Rao the very next day.

The TRS is maintaining secrecy about those who intend to join its ranks without giving much scope to the Congress and TDP to do damage control. Sources said the TRS politburo meeting scheduled on Thursday would discuss the names of leaders who are likely to join the party.
